First NTPC project in Jharkhand

NTPC is going to set up environment friendly super-critical, North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Plant (NKSTPP) in the vicinity of Tandwa town, district Chatra in Jharkhand after the Cabinet Committee on Investment cleared the proposal of the Ministry of Power.Execution of the project would lead to generation of 1980 MW of power.Safeguards according to the recommendation of the Chaturvedi Committee and accepted by the Group of Ministers (GoM) under the chairmanship of Finance Minister will apply to the project. This is the first project of NTPC in Jharkhand which will benefit the state and people of Jharkhand where about 26 percent of the population is tribal which will generate power for about 35 years of plant life.
