Private Companies to run buses in Calcutta roads

Transport Minister, Madan Mitra today formally announced that buses on route no 14 will be started again from Monday. He said that Mayor and Industry Minister will inaugurate the bus from Behala. The buses on route no 14 used to run between Behala and Esplanade.
The Minister also said that for the first time in history of Calcutta private companies will be running bus services. Though currently some buses are plying in a joint venture between private players and the state but this will be the first time that private operators will run the buses. Initially non-ac four buses will ply between Dakshineshwar and Amta from Monday as a pilot project and then gradually the number of buses will be increased to numbers as high as 200 by May. The mister said that the buses will have better services like push back seats, mineral water and better lighting.
